Africhlor was established in 2019 to implement the R2Billion rand Chlor Alkali plant in Richardsbay
Industrial Zone(RBIDZ). A 35year lease has been secured with RBIDZ.
All the necessary environmental approvals and feasility studies are in place. Africhlor has secured
Funding from the DTIC under the Black Industrialist Scheme and the Top structure . The project will
generate 126 full time jobs , 300 during construction and 68 through SMMEs
The construction phase will commence in June 2025 for a period of 15months.
Africhlor has worked with highly qualified service providers with the global presence ,namely, SRK
Consulting , Thyssen Krupp, Eaglestone, Bowmans ;AKKIM and Ineos Electro Industrial solutions

Africhlor pledge to bridge the gap between the supply and the demand of the following Chlor Alkali
chemicals
Chlorine gas
Caustic Lye
Sodium Hypochlorite
Hydrochloric acid
The project was implemented in response to the government call for industrialisation
transformation.
As a results of the secutity threat in the availability of some of the chlor alkali chemicals in South
Africa, Africhlor will service the local market for the first 3years of its operational phase.
Market offtakes are already in place to fully service the plant’s annual production.
Africhlor is predominately owned and managed by previously disadvantaged individuals with the
necessary skills and experience required in the Chlor Alkali space.
